Q1. Please tell us why you have entered or are considering entering cellular agriculture industry/ 細胞農業に参入された、もしくは参入検討されている理由を教えてください。
Cellular agriculture has the potential to transform today’s large-scale food production. Furthermore, we see it as an opportunity to shift our nutrition habits from a behavior guided by geographical proximity of resources to an approach that is tailored to individual nutritional needs. TCB originates from the aim to solve some of the industry’s bottlenecks, which are restricting scalability and commercial viability. Our team has therefore been working on solving this challenge by developing better reactors, significantly reducing the cost of cell culture media and using plants as machines for smart ingredient production. The aim is to enrich the agritech industries and enable other companies to produce alternative proteins at an industrial scale

TCB provides end-to-end technological solutions for the food industry and beyond. In particular, our team of scientists develops proprietary know-how in cellular agriculture, precision fermentation in various organisms for alternative proteins of excellent functional properties, and fit-for-purpose bioreactors to address the need for affordable, scalable and sustainable technological solutions.

We are excited to bring in our expertise as B2B technology provider because any regulatory movement, security or process assessment is not only a matter of the final product. We are looking forward to developing initiatives together with JACA and its members and to contributing to the development of the cellular agriculture industry in Japan.

Q4. What do you hope to achieve for Cellular Agriculture?/ 細胞農業によって何を実現されたいですか？ もしくは何を期待されますか？
We are hoping to encourage a collaborative approach for the field to enable each other. Associations such as JACA are a good starting point. We genuinely believe that the challenges are best addressed if we distribute the labour and benefit from synergies and networking effects. Furthermore, we hope to influence the narrative with correct statements about the challenges and progress in the industry and technological requirements for cellular agriculture manufacturing processes. We see an urgent need to provide appropriate and accurate information to the public and related industries.
