What’s New

We have submitted a Paper “Risk Assessment and Management Policies for Cell-Based Foods in Japan“* to the Food Safety Standards and Evaluation Division of the Consumer Affairs Agency, before they finalize the “Guideline Draft” which will be made by the end of this summer.

Aim of the Paper

We hope the Paper will contribute to the ongoing guideline creation for the market launch of cultivated food, which is proceeded by the Expert Committee managed by the Food Safety Standards and Evaluation Division of the Consumer Affairs Agency.

Moving forward

We aim to promote stakeholder-specific communications and consensus-building based on the Paper.
As an initial step, we held the first briefing session of the Paper at the Cellular Agriculture Working Team (WT) under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ Food Tech Public-Private Council on May 15th, 2025.The second session is scheduled for May 19th, 2025.

If you are interested in providing comments on the Paper, please feel free to contact us. JACA will translate the Paper and share it with serious stakeholders seeking to enter the Japanese market by collaborating with local partners.
