On May 28, 2026, Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA) held the latest meeting of the Food Sanitation Standards Council’s Subcommittee on Newly Developed Foods (the “Subcommittee”). The agenda covered two main items: hearings from four consumer organizations on cell-cultured food, and an update to the draft safety guideline for cell-cultured food (Document 2).A summary of the consumer organization hearings — the first agenda item — is available here:
